A fresh case of alleged forced religious conversion has surfaced in Maharashtra, with police arresting an NGO operator in Nagpur. The development comes amid ongoing investigations into a similar controversy linked to a corporate setup in Nashik.
According to officials, the accused, identified as Riyaz Kazi, was running multiple organisations and is facing allegations of coercion, molestation, and pressuring women into adopting specific religious practices. Complaints were filed by women associated with the NGO, leading to his arrest by local police.
Authorities stated that the investigation is expanding, with the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad joining the probe due to the seriousness of the allegations. Officials are also examining the funding sources and operations of organisations linked to the accused. Police are working to determine the extent of the alleged activities and identify how many individuals may have been affected. The case has drawn attention due to its similarity to recent incidents, prompting a wider investigation in the region.
