Maruti Suzuki Kharkhoda Plant Inaugurated By PM Modi, Japan PM Takaichi
New Delhi, July 2: Maruti Suzuki India’s new manufacturing facility at Kharkhoda in Haryana was inaugurated on Thursday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The virtual inauguration took place during the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum in New Delhi.
Fourth Manufacturing Facility For Maruti Suzuki
The Kharkhoda plant is Maruti Suzuki India’s fourth manufacturing facility and marks a major expansion in the company’s production network. The new facility is expected to support the carmaker’s plan to increase its annual production capacity in the coming years.
Built Across 800 Acres In Haryana
The Kharkhoda facility is spread across 800 acres and includes an integrated supplier park. The plant currently has an installed production capacity of 5 lakh vehicles per year, which will be scaled up to 10 lakh units annually in the future.
₹35,000 Crore Investment And Job Creation
Maruti Suzuki has committed an investment of around ₹35,000 crore for the Kharkhoda project. The facility is expected to create more than 21,000 direct jobs, making it one of the major automobile sector investments in India.
Toshihiro Suzuki Calls It A Major Milestone
Addressing the event, Suzuki Motor Corporation Representative Director and President Toshihiro Suzuki said the Kharkhoda plant is the company’s most advanced car manufacturing facility. He said the plant reflects the strength of the India-Japan partnership and the Make in India initiative.
Boost To Make In India And Exports
Suzuki said India’s importance within the Suzuki Group has grown significantly over the years. He also highlighted that Suzuki’s first battery electric vehicle, the e-VITARA, is being manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant for export to global markets.
Part Of Maruti Suzuki’s Future Capacity Plan
The Kharkhoda plant will play an important role in Maruti Suzuki’s long-term plan to reach an annual production capacity of around 40 lakh vehicles. Once fully expanded, the facility is expected to become one of the largest automobile manufacturing plants in the world.
India-Japan Industrial Partnership Strengthens
The inauguration of the Kharkhoda facility highlights the growing industrial and economic partnership between India and Japan. The project is also expected to strengthen India’s position as a global automobile manufacturing and export hub.
