Petrol, Diesel Price Cut: Nayara Slashes Rates From July 1
Motorists received limited relief on July 1, 2026, after private fuel retailer Nayara Energy reduced petrol prices by Rs 5 per litre and diesel prices by Rs 3 per litre across its fuel station network. The company’s move comes as international crude oil prices softened after easing tensions in West Asia.
Nayara Energy Announces Fuel Price Cut
Nayara Energy, one of India’s major private fuel retailers, has implemented the revised rates across its network of more than 7,000 fuel stations. The cut applies only to Nayara Energy outlets and should not be confused with a nationwide price revision by all oil companies.
The reduction is important because it marks the first retail fuel price cut by any company in more than two years. Petrol has become cheaper by Rs 5 per litre, while diesel has become cheaper by Rs 3 per litre at Nayara outlets.
Public Sector Fuel Prices Remain Unchanged
State-owned oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, have not announced any fuel price cut. These public sector companies control more than 90% of India’s fuel station network, meaning most petrol pumps may continue to sell petrol and diesel at existing rates.
At IOC outlets in Delhi, petrol continues to be priced at Rs 102.12 per litre, while diesel remains at Rs 95.20 per litre.
Latest Petrol Prices In Major Cities
The latest public sector outlet petrol rates reported for July 1 are:
| City | Petrol Price |
|---|---|
| Delhi | Rs 102.12 per litre |
| Mumbai | Rs 111.21 per litre |
| Bengaluru | Rs 111.68 per litre |
| Kolkata | Rs 113.51 per litre |
| Chennai | Rs 107.76 per litre |
These rates are for public sector oil company outlets and do not reflect the reduced prices at Nayara Energy fuel stations.
Diesel Prices In Key Cities
Fuel prices differ from city to city because of local taxes, VAT, dealer commission, and transport costs. Reported diesel rates on July 1 include Delhi at Rs 95.20 per litre, Kolkata at Rs 99.82 per litre, Mumbai at Rs 97.83 per litre, Chennai at Rs 99.66 per litre, Hyderabad at Rs 103.82 per litre, and Bengaluru at Rs 98.80 per litre.
Why Fuel Prices Differ Across India
Petrol and diesel prices in India depend on several factors, including international crude oil prices, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, central excise duty, and state-level VAT. This is why consumers pay different prices in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and other cities.
The latest price cut by Nayara Energy may benefit motorists who have access to the company’s fuel stations. However, customers filling fuel at IOC, BPCL, or HPCL outlets should check the displayed pump rate before assuming that prices have been reduced.
What Consumers Should Know
The July 1 price cut is a positive development for vehicle owners, transport operators, and daily commuters, but its impact will be limited unless public sector oil companies also revise prices. For now, the benefit is mainly available at Nayara Energy pumps.
Consumers are advised to check the nearest fuel station rate before refuelling, as actual prices can vary depending on city, state taxes and the company operating the outlet.
