CBI Arrests UP Youth In Murder Probe

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Raj Kumar Singh from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the murder of Chandranath Rath, executive assistant to Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. Raj Kumar, a resident of Ballia, was reportedly caught in Muzaffarnagar while allegedly trying to move to another state. Uttar Pradesh police assisted the CBI during the operation.

Family Claims No Knowledge

Raj Kumar’s family said they were shocked by the arrest and had no idea about his alleged involvement. His father, Tribhuvan Narain Singh, said his son had left home in search of work and rarely shared details about his life outside the village. The family also claimed they had no links with West Bengal and did not know whether Raj Kumar had any contact with others named in the case.

Investigation Widens

Chandranath Rath, 41, was shot dead in Madhyamgram on May 6, shortly after the Bengal Assembly election results. The case was first investigated by the Bengal Police and later handed over to the CBI. Earlier, Mayank Raj Mishra, Vicky Maurya, and Raj Singh were arrested. The agency is now examining possible links between the accused and the larger conspiracy behind the killing.
