Gunmen opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on October 18, injuring his driver and a bystander. Shroff was not shot, though reports said he suffered minor injuries. Investigators are now examining reports that Salman Khan may have been the attackers’ original target before they allegedly changed plans because of the security at his home.
Gunmen Fired at Shroff’s Car in Juhu
The shooting occurred as Shroff was leaving a venue in Juhu after a football outing. Reports say three assailants were involved and seven rounds were fired at the car. Shroff’s driver and a bystander were injured.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage, communications and social media activity to determine how the attackers tracked the actor. Police sources told The Times of India that the suspects monitored Shroff’s movements through posts shared by him and his fans, and had surveyed the football ground beforehand.
Salman Khan Reportedly Considered the First Target
Reports citing police sources say the suspects surveyed Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra but allegedly abandoned that plan because of the security there. They then turned their attention to Shroff, whom investigators reportedly believed had less protection during public outings.
This remains a developing line of investigation. The Times of India reported that senior officers had not commented on the claim and that police had yet to question the three suspects about it.
Other Celebrity Residences Allegedly Surveyed
Mumbai Crime Branch sources have also alleged that the suspects visited areas around the homes of Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar. According to reports, they used auto-rickshaws and told drivers they wanted to photograph the celebrities’ homes.
The reported visits do not establish that each actor was the subject of a specific attack plan. Investigators are still examining the suspects’ movements and possible instructions.
Seven People Held as Probe Continues
Three suspects were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, on October 19. Four more people were arrested in Delhi on October 20 in connection with an alleged weapons-supply module. The arrests involve different suspected roles; Maharashtra CID sought permission to question and formally arrest the four held in Delhi.
Anil Pandit reportedly claimed responsibility for the shooting in an audio message and issued threats involving Salman Khan’s associates. Police are investigating the claim, the alleged gang links and who may have directed the attack. These allegations have not been established in court.
