Twisha Sharma Death Case Raises Fresh Concerns
Eight days after the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, her body continues to remain in the AIIMS Bhopal mortuary. Twisha, a former Miss Pune and marketing professional, was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12, 2026. Police have treated the case as a suspected suicide, but her family has refused cremation, demanding what they call a fair and independent investigation.
Family Seeks Second Post-Mortem
Twisha’s parents have alleged dowry harassment, physical abuse, and possible evidence tampering after her marriage to Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh five months ago. They demanded a second post-mortem, preferably at AIIMS New Delhi, claiming the first autopsy was incomplete. However, a Bhopal court rejected the plea and raised concerns over the long-term preservation of the body at AIIMS Bhopal.
Probe Continues As Husband Absconds
The first autopsy reportedly cited death due to hanging, but questions remain over alleged injuries and the ligature material. Police have registered a dowry harassment case and formed an SIT. Samarth Singh is absconding, and police have announced a cash reward for information leading to his arrest. Twisha’s family also met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who assured a fair probe.
