Employee Demands Rise: Has 8th Pay Commission Deadline Been Extended?
8th Pay Commission Update: Deadline Not Extended, Submissions Open Till May 31

The 8th Pay Commission has begun an important phase of consultations starting April 28, 2026, with discussions continuing until April 30. As of April 29, the second day of meetings is underway, where employee unions and associations are actively presenting their demands related to salaries, allowances, and service conditions.

These three-day consultation sessions are considered a crucial step before the Commission finalises its recommendations on pay and pension revisions. Representatives from a wide range of groups have been invited to participate, ensuring that diverse viewpoints are considered during the decision-making process.

The Commission has invited suggestions from central government employees across industrial and non-industrial sectors, members of All India Services, defence personnel, and employees of Union Territories. It has also extended the invitation to pensioners, service associations, unions, and various government departments, highlighting the inclusive nature of the consultation process.

To streamline the process, the Commission has made it mandatory for all submissions to be made online through a structured format available on the MyGov portal. It has clearly stated that submissions via email, hard copy, or other offline methods will not be accepted under any circumstances.

As of now, there has been no extension announced for the submission deadline. The last date to submit representations and suggestions remains May 31, 2026. The inputs gathered during this period are expected to play a key role in shaping the Commission’s final recommendations, which could impact salaries, pensions, and service conditions for lakhs of government employees across India.
