Plot
Jana Nayagan follows Vetri (Vijay), a prisoner with a mysterious past who is released from jail and becomes the guardian of a young girl after a prison warden's death. As he uncovers a conspiracy led by international criminal John Himmler (Bobby Deol), Vetri transforms into a people's leader, fighting corruption, injustice, and political oppression while protecting the people of Tamil Nadu.

Vijay completely owns the film with his charisma, stylish dialogue delivery, and powerful screen presence. Bobby Deol delivers a convincing performance as the intimidating antagonist. Mamitha Baiju shines in an emotionally important role, while Pooja Hegde has comparatively limited screen time. Veteran actors Prakash Raj, Revathi, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Nassar, Priyamani, Narain, Sunil, and Nizhalgal Ravi provide solid support despite limited scope.
Technical Aspects
H. Vinoth presents a visually polished political action drama with strong production values. Sathyan Sooryan's cinematography captures the mass appeal of Vijay beautifully, while the action choreography and large-scale sequences are executed effectively. The film looks rich and maintains commercial appeal throughout.

Anirudh Ravichander delivers energetic songs that perfectly suit Vijay's mass image. His background score elevates several action and emotional moments, adding extra impact to the film's biggest sequences.
Editing
Pradeep E. Raghav keeps the film engaging for most parts, but the runtime of over three hours feels lengthy. A tighter edit, especially in the second half, would have improved the overall pace.
