New Kannada Movie Review : Rakkasapuradol

New Kannada Movie Review : Rakkasapuradol

Plot

Rakkasapuradol follows Inspector Shiva, a troubled police officer returning to duty after treatment for a mental health condition. He is posted to a remote, superstitious village shaken by a series of brutal murders believed by locals to be the work of a demon. As fear spreads, Shiva begins to suspect a rational cause behind the killings, leading the investigation through layers of superstition, psychology, and hidden truths.

Overview

The film distinguishes itself with intelligent writing that blends a murder mystery with themes of mental health and blind belief. While the screenplay offers engaging twists and a brisk narrative, the overall impact is weakened by uneven direction and technical shortcomings, preventing the film from fully realizing its potential.

Performances

Raj B Shetty delivers a powerful performance as Inspector Shiva, convincingly portraying inner turmoil while navigating a complex case. His act is the film’s biggest strength. Anirudh Bhat makes a strong impression despite limited screen time, while the supporting cast performs well, though some characters could have been more fleshed out.

Technical Aspects

The cinematography feels dated and lacks visual depth, while the editing is choppy, affecting narrative flow. Special effects and sound design are excessive in places, reducing the realism of key moments. The background score initially enhances tension but later becomes overpowering.

Music

The background score and two songs help set the mood early on, but repeated overuse dulls their effectiveness and becomes distracting as the film progresses.

Editing

Abrupt cuts and rushed transitions disrupt pacing. Several sequences feel incomplete, suggesting the film could have benefited from tighter and more polished editing.

Positives

  • Smart and engaging murder mystery
  • Strong central performance by Raj B Shetty
  • Interesting blend of superstition and mental health themes

Negatives

  • Weak and inconsistent direction
  • Overused background music
  • Dated visuals and technical flaws
  • Uneven editing

Analysis

Rakkasapuradol succeeds on the strength of its writing and lead performance, offering an intriguing narrative that explores fear, belief, and the human mind. However, flawed execution—especially in direction and technical craft—keeps it from becoming a truly gripping thriller.

Bottomline : Smart Writing

Rating : 3.5/5
