Oh My Dog, directed by Amit Rai and starring Pankaj Tripathi, Rajesh Kumar, Geeta Agrawal Sharma, Pavan Malhotra and Sridhar Dubey, has been receiving a positive response since its August 7 release. At a press meet, director Shashikiran Tikka praised the film as a heartwarming family entertainer that audiences can enjoy with children.
Amit Rai Reveals the Inspiration Behind Oh My Dog
Speaking at the press meet, director Amit Rai said the idea for Oh My Dog came from his own bond with a dog named Oscar, who entered his life around four years ago. Rai explained that he initially believed he was taking care of Oscar, but soon realised that the dog was also emotionally supporting and caring for him. That experience became the foundation for the film’s story.
According to Rai, the movie focuses on the unconditional love, loyalty, empathy and compassion that dogs show toward people. He said the film explores how far dogs can go to express their affection and loyalty, while also reminding audiences about the emotional connection humans share with animals. Rai encouraged parents to watch the film with their children, saying it carries a message about kindness and compassion. He also noted that even people who do not own pets can connect with the film’s emotions.
Shashikiran Tikka Praises the Film as a Family Watch
Director Shashikiran Tikka, who attended the event as the chief guest, described Oh My Dog as a film that should be celebrated by audiences. He praised Amit Rai, who previously directed OMG 2, and said the new film deserves support for combining emotion, entertainment and a meaningful message.
Tikka observed that Indian cinema has increasingly explored stories centred on animals and their relationships with humans. Referring to the success of films such as Charlie, he said audiences have shown that they are willing to embrace emotional stories involving pets. He expressed hope that more filmmakers would explore such subjects in the future and added that Oh My Dog is suitable for the entire family.
Cast and Team Thank Audiences for Their Support
Actor Rajesh Kumar said Amit Rai had handled the subject in a deeply emotional and engaging way. He thanked audiences for supporting the film since its release and said the movie is one that viewers of all age groups can connect with.
Dollysha Chourasia also appreciated the director for presenting an important message about animals. She said animals have an equal right to live alongside humans and expressed confidence that the film could change the way some people look at dogs. She added that the movie does not rely only on emotion, but also offers thrill and entertainment.
Oh My Dog Continues Its Theatrical Run
Produced by Rajesh Bhardwaj, Amit Rai and Sana Warsi, Oh My Dog was released on August 7 and, according to the film team, has been receiving encouraging audience response. With a cast led by Pankaj Tripathi and Rajesh Kumar, the film combines family drama, emotion and entertainment with a message about compassion toward animals. The makers hope the film will reach more families during its theatrical run and encourage viewers, particularly younger audiences, to develop greater empathy and respect for animals.
