Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, has ended its first weekend on a strong note at the box office. The romantic comedy collected Rs 76.25 crore worldwide gross by the end of Day 3, helped by steady growth on Saturday and Sunday.
According to trade figures, the film collected Rs 57 crore gross in India and Rs 19.25 crore from overseas markets. Its total India nett collection stood at Rs 47.50 crore across 31,542 shows during the opening weekend.
The film opened with Rs 13.50 crore nett on 19th June, Friday and showed clear growth over the next two days. On 20th June Saturday, Cocktail 2 earned Rs 16.25 crore nett, while21st June Sunday brought in Rs 17.50 crore nett, making it the film’s best day so far.
The strong Sunday performance helped the film maintain momentum despite competition at the box office. On Day 3, Cocktail 2 reportedly had more than 10,000 shows across India with around 29 percent occupancy. The National Capital Region recorded the highest number of shows, followed by Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 follows Kunal, played by Shahid Kapoor, and Diya, played by Rashmika Mandanna, who are childhood sweethearts but remain unsure about marriage. Their lives change during a holiday in Sicily, where they reconnect with Diya’s close friend Ally, played by Kriti Sanon.
What begins as a fun holiday slowly turns emotional as doubts, insecurities and relationship questions come to the surface. The film combines romance, friendship and emotional drama, which appears to have worked with the weekend audience.
Cocktail 2 released in theatres on June 19 and has now entered the crucial weekday test. Its Monday collection will decide how strongly the film can continue after the opening weekend.
