Chennai, Tamil Nadu: TNSTC will operate additional buses from August 27 to 30 to manage increased travel during the weekend and wedding season.
TNSTC Special Buses From Chennai Announced For Weekend Rush
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has announced additional bus services from Chennai and other major cities between August 27 and August 30. The special arrangements are intended to accommodate the higher number of passengers expected to travel during the weekend holidays and wedding season.
TNSTC said advance information about the additional services would help passengers plan their journeys and reserve seats early. Travellers have been advised to avoid waiting until the last minute, as major bus terminals and popular intercity routes are likely to experience increased demand.
Thousands of additional seats will be available on services departing from Kilambakkam, Koyambedu and Madhavaram. Special buses will also connect Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode with different destinations across Tamil Nadu.
TNSTC Kilambakkam Special Buses To Cover Major Tamil Nadu Cities
Kilambakkam bus terminus will handle the largest number of special services during the travel period. On Thursday, August 27, TNSTC will operate 380 additional buses from Kilambakkam to several prominent destinations across the state.
The routes will include Thiruvannamalai, Tiruchi, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tirupur. These destinations typically record strong passenger demand before weekends, public holidays and auspicious wedding dates.
The number of additional buses from Kilambakkam will increase significantly over the following two days. TNSTC plans to operate 1,140 special buses on Friday, August 28, and another 1,020 buses on Saturday, August 29, to the same destinations.
The expanded schedule is expected to reduce crowding at the terminus and provide more travel options for passengers heading towards southern, central and western districts of Tamil Nadu.
TNSTC Koyambedu And Madhavaram Services Add More Connections
Koyambedu will also serve as an important departure point under the special transport plan. TNSTC will run 130 additional buses from the terminus on each day from August 27 to August 29.
These buses will operate to Thiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru. The services are expected to benefit passengers travelling towards pilgrimage destinations as well as those heading to Karnataka and industrial centres near the Tamil Nadu border.
From Madhavaram, 90 additional buses will be operated daily between August 27 and August 29. The corporation has not provided a detailed route-wise breakdown for all Madhavaram services, but the additional capacity is expected to support passengers travelling towards northern districts and neighbouring states.
TNSTC will also deploy a total of 200 buses over the three-day period from Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore to various destinations. These services will help manage passenger movement outside Chennai and provide additional connections between major commercial cities.
TNSTC Return Buses To Chennai Planned For Sunday
To handle the return rush, TNSTC will operate 690 additional buses to Chennai from various parts of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, August 30. A large number of passengers are expected to return to the capital after completing weekend trips, family visits and wedding-related travel.
The return services are intended to prevent overcrowding on regular buses and ensure that commuters can reach Chennai before the start of the new working week. Passengers travelling on high-demand routes should reserve their seats as early as possible and arrive at the designated bus terminal with sufficient time.
TNSTC’s special schedule covers thousands of services across four days, making it one of the major weekend travel arrangements announced for late August. Travellers should verify their boarding terminal, departure time and destination while booking because Chennai services will depart from Kilambakkam, Koyambedu and Madhavaram based on the route.
