Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: MEA Warns Pilgrims Over Missing Travel Documents
The Ministry of External Affairs has advised Indian citizens not to begin the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra unless they have obtained all required travel documents for the complete journey.
The advisory was issued after the ministry received assistance requests from Indian pilgrims who were stranded in Nepal while travelling for the yatra through private tour operators. According to the ministry, some pilgrims had travelled to Nepal without securing the mandatory entry permit and visa needed to enter China.
Pilgrims Told Not To Travel On Assumptions
The MEA cautioned that pilgrims should not embark on the journey in the hope of obtaining permits later. It said travelling without confirmed documents can create serious difficulties during the pilgrimage, especially because the yatra involves cross-border movement through Nepal and China.
The government has requested that devotees verify all necessary documents, including entry permits and visas required for the entire route, before departing India.
Verify Private Tour Operators, Says MEA
The ministry also urged pilgrims to check whether their private tour operator is properly registered and authorised before booking the pilgrimage. The advisory is aimed at preventing inconvenience to devotees and ensuring a safer, smoother Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra holds deep religious significance for Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists. The official yatra organised by the Ministry of External Affairs is conducted through the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand and the Nathu La route in Sikkim.
Pilgrims planning the journey have been advised to follow official guidelines, verify travel permissions in advance, and avoid relying on last-minute assurances from operators.
