Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory warning commuters of possible traffic disruptions across New Delhi and Central Delhi on Tuesday, October 13. Authorities said restrictions and route diversions may be introduced at major junctions and road stretches depending on the prevailing law and order situation.
The advisory comes amid tensions surrounding recent protests demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Traffic arrangements may change as police assess conditions throughout the day.
Motorists should treat the notice as a warning of possible disruption rather than confirmation that every listed road will remain closed. Restrictions may be introduced, adjusted or relaxed according to conditions on the ground.
Affected Roads Include Connaught Place and Major Junctions
Important locations identified in the advisory include Minto Road, Mandi House roundabout, Patel Chowk roundabout, Guru Nanak Chowk, Lodhi Road Flyover, Sardar Patel Marg and the Outer Circle of Connaught Place.
Other listed points include Panchkuian roundabout, the Minto Road–Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg junction, Chelmsford Road–Outer Circle T-point, Sardar Patel Marg–Panchsheel Marg crossing and Ring Road–San Martin Marg T-point.
Possible disruptions also extend to locations beneath the Moti Bagh Flyover and Bhikaji Cama Place, along with Rail Bhawan roundabout, RML Hospital roundabout and the Jai Singh Road–Sansad Marg crossing. These are locations where traffic measures may apply; the advisory does not establish continuous closures at each point.
Commuters Advised to Plan Routes and Allow Extra Time
Police have advised commuters to plan journeys in advance, keep additional travel time available and avoid non-essential travel through affected areas. Drivers should follow diversion signs and instructions from traffic personnel deployed on the roads.
Passengers travelling to railway stations, inter-state bus terminals or the airport through New Delhi and Central Delhi should account for possible delays. Checking the Delhi Traffic Police’s official updates before departure can help travellers respond to changing arrangements. With restrictions dependent on real-time assessments, commuters should remain prepared for route changes during their journey and follow the directions issued at each junction.
