KKR Halt GT Winning Run To Strengthen IPL 2026, Qualification Hopes

KKR Dominate With Bat At Eden Gardens

Kolkata Knight Riders produced a powerful all-round performance to defeat Gujarat Titans by 29 runs in their IPL 2026 clash at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The win helped KKR strengthen their qualification hopes and also ended GT’s five-match winning run. Batting first, Kolkata posted a huge total of 247/2 in 20 overs, putting Gujarat under pressure from the start. Finn Allen played a blazing knock of 93, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi remained unbeaten on 82, his career-best IPL score. Cameron Green added quick runs with an unbeaten 52 as KKR made full use of GT’s fielding mistakes and loose bowling.

Gill Fights Hard But GT Falls Short

Chasing 248, the Gujarat Titans started brightly but lost momentum after Sai Sudharsan retired hurt due to an elbow blow. Captain Shubman Gill kept the chase alive with a brilliant 85 off 49 balls, hitting five fours and seven sixes. Jos Buttler supported him with 57, while Sudharsan later returned to score an unbeaten 53. However, Sunil Narine turned the match in KKR’s favour with a tight spell of 2/29 in his 200th IPL match. Gill and Buttler’s dismissals in quick succession made the chase difficult, and Gujarat finished at 218/4. KKR’s disciplined death bowling sealed an important victory in the qualification race.
