Revanth Reddy Warns Power Officials of Suspension Over Outages

Revanth Reddy Questions Repeated Power Interruptions

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy warned senior energy department officials of suspension on Wednesday, October 14, over recurring electricity disruptions across the state. During a review meeting in Hyderabad, he demanded an explanation for the interruptions despite repeated directions to maintain uninterrupted supply.

The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the department’s functioning and questioned why earlier warnings had failed to bring improvements. He directed officials to identify the causes of the outages immediately and implement corrective measures to restore reliable electricity for consumers.

Telangana Power Demand Raises Supply Concerns

Revanth Reddy expressed concern about a possible electricity shortage in the coming days and questioned whether generation had been increased sufficiently to meet anticipated demand. He asked officials to explain the steps taken to prepare for rising consumption.

Emphasising his responsibility to the public, the Chief Minister said failures in electricity supply required urgent attention. He warned that negligence causing inconvenience to consumers would not be tolerated and made clear that senior officials would also be held accountable.

Yadadri Power Generation Comes Under Scrutiny

The Chief Minister questioned why the Yadadri thermal power plant was not generating electricity at full capacity despite coal supply arrangements through Naini and Mahanadi. He sought an explanation for the gap between available fuel arrangements and electricity output.

Revanth Reddy said the government had taken steps to prevent coal shortages and asked why those measures had not translated into higher generation. He instructed the department to examine the constraints affecting production and address the problems promptly.

Farmers Electricity Supply Gets Priority

Revanth Reddy stressed that farmers must receive adequate electricity to protect standing crops and carry out agricultural operations. He said cultivators should not suffer because of negligence within the department, particularly when reliable power was essential for their fields.

The Chief Minister specifically warned Energy Special Chief Secretary Navin Mittal and TG Genco Chairman and Managing Director S. Harish that they could face suspension if the problems were not resolved immediately. He demanded prompt explanations for the interruptions and urgent action to ensure dependable supply across Telangana.
