The working relationship between Telangana ministers and some Union ministers from Andhra Pradesh has reportedly come under strain over the handling of development projects in Telangana.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and Union Minister of State Pemmasani Chandrasekhar have faced criticism from sections of the Telangana Congress. State leaders have demanded more consultation, transparency and coordination concerning central projects planned or implemented in Telangana.
Their main complaint is that Union ministers should hold regular discussions with the Telangana government and ensure that the state administration is informed about important decisions. Congress leaders argue that development projects require cooperation between the Centre and the state, regardless of political or regional differences.
The proposed expansion and development of Warangal airport has brought the disagreement into public view. Telangana leaders have sought greater clarity and support from the Union Civil Aviation Ministry regarding the project’s progress, required approvals and implementation schedule.
Telangana Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has publicly expressed dissatisfaction over the Centre’s response. State leaders expect the Civil Aviation Ministry, headed by Ram Mohan Naidu, to engage more closely with the Telangana government and address pending concerns about the airport.
Warangal airport is considered an important infrastructure project that could improve regional connectivity, promote tourism and support economic development in northern Telangana. Any delay or lack of clarity is therefore likely to attract political attention.
Pemmasani Chandrasekhar has also faced complaints over the announcement of central projects in Telangana. Some Congress leaders claim that the state government must be consulted before major announcements are made so that departments can coordinate implementation and provide necessary support.
Telangana Congress leaders maintain that Union ministers represent the entire country and are responsible for working with every state, irrespective of which political party is in power. They argue that differences between the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments should not affect development initiatives or administrative coordination.
Union Minister Srinivasa Varma has largely remained outside the criticism, indicating that the concerns are focused on the handling of specific projects rather than all ministers from Andhra Pradesh.
The issue could develop into a fresh political dispute between the two Telugu states if communication does not improve. Telangana leaders are expected to continue pressing the Centre for clearer timelines and closer consultation on the Warangal airport and other projects. Better coordination between Union ministries and the state government will be essential to prevent administrative disagreements from delaying development work.
