Karnataka CM Change Buzz
Siddaramaiah Governor Meeting Raises Buzz
Karnataka politics is facing a crucial moment as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly sought time to meet Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on May 28, 2026. The move has increased speculation that he may step down, though there is no official confirmation yet. Reports said Siddaramaiah may also host a breakfast meeting with Karnataka cabinet colleagues in Bengaluru before the Governor meeting.
The latest development comes after detailed discussions in Delhi involving Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders. Congress has publicly denied any confirmed power tussle, but the leadership change talk has continued to grow in the state.
DK Shivakumar CM Race In Focus
DK Shivakumar is being closely watched as the possible next face of the Karnataka government if Congress decides on a change of guard. His supporters have long referred to a power-sharing understanding after the party returned to power in 2023.
Reports also suggest that Congress may offer Siddaramaiah a Rajya Sabha role and a larger national responsibility to make the transition smoother. This would allow the party to use his OBC leadership image at the national level while managing Karnataka’s internal balance.
For now, Congress has not announced any final decision. All eyes are on the May 28, 2026, meeting, which may decide whether Karnataka will see a major political shift or whether Siddaramaiah will continue as Chief Minister.
