TVK Denies MLA Resignation Rumours Amid Tamil Nadu Government Formation Talks

Leaders of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) have strongly denied rumours claiming that the party’s MLAs were planning a mass resignation amid the ongoing political uncertainty in Tamil Nadu. Party functionaries said no such discussions had taken place and dismissed the reports as baseless speculation.

A senior TVK leader said the party is focused on exploring options to form the government after emerging as a key force in the Assembly elections. According to the leader, TVK is seeking support from parties including the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Communist Party of India (CPI), and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) to reach the majority mark.

The party is also examining legal options related to the government formation process and the possibility of proving majority on the Assembly floor. TVK leaders rejected suggestions that the party might resign and push for fresh elections, questioning the rationale behind such a move after securing a significant mandate.

At present, TVK has the backing of the Indian National Congress MLAs, taking its tally closer to the required majority. Meanwhile, Left parties and the VCK are expected to hold further discussions before announcing their stance on extending support to the party.
