Trump Open To Meeting Mojtaba Khamenei If US-Iran Deal Is Reached
Donald Trump says he may meet Iran’s Mojtaba Khamenei if a deal is reached, while repeating strong claims on Tehran’s uranium stockpile.
Trump Signals Diplomatic Opening
US President Donald Trump has said he would be open to meeting Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, if Washington and Tehran reach a deal, adding a fresh diplomatic angle to the tense debate over Iran’s nuclear programme.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said a meeting was possible if both sides moved towards an agreement. He said he would treat such a meeting with respect, even as he made it clear that the US would continue to take a tough position on Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile.
