TFCC Announces Short Film Festival Awards 2026
The Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce has announced the TFCC Short Film Festival Awards 2026 as a special initiative to encourage new talent in the film industry. The festival was officially announced by TFCC Chairman Dr. Prathani Ramakrishna Goud as part of the 12th Telangana Formation Day celebrations. The main aim of the event is to provide a strong platform for aspiring filmmakers, actors, writers, technicians and creative artists who are waiting for the right opportunity to showcase their skills. Short films have become one of the most powerful ways for young creators to prove their talent, and TFCC believes this festival can help many fresh voices enter the cinema industry. The announcement has created interest among short film makers because the festival is open to participants without any entry fee.
Free Entry Open Until June 13
One of the biggest highlights of the TFCC Short Film Festival Awards 2026 is that participation is completely free. Filmmakers can submit short films with a duration of 5 to 25 minutes. Entries will be accepted until June 13, giving young creators enough time to send their work for consideration. The winners will be selected by a jury and honoured at a grand awards ceremony on June 21 at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad. Dr. Prathani Ramakrishna Goud said the festival will be held every year to continue supporting new talent. He also noted that many successful actors, directors and technicians started their careers through short films before entering mainstream cinema. TFCC members said the free-entry model is especially useful because many talented artists cannot afford costly festival submissions.
Awards In Nearly 20 Categories
The festival will present awards in nearly 20 categories to recognise talent across different areas of filmmaking. These include Best Story, Best Director, Best Hero, Best Heroine, Best Actor, Best Co-Artist, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematographer, Best Background Music, Best Supporting Actress, Jury Award, Best Producer, Best Journalist, Best Photo Journalist and Best Cameraman, among others. By covering both creative and technical categories, TFCC wants to appreciate the complete team effort behind short films. This makes the festival useful not only for directors and actors but also for writers, cinematographers, music composers, producers and media professionals. TFCC Vice Chairman Gururaj praised the initiative and said conducting the festival without charging any entry fee is a commendable step.
A Strong Platform For New Film Talent
TFCC Organizing Secretary Aksa Khan said the festival is a valuable opportunity for aspiring artists and filmmakers to prove their talent. TFCC Vice Chairman Alla Bhakshu also said that while many film festivals charge high entry fees, TFCC is giving this opportunity free of cost. Coordination Committee Secretary Prakash Goud added that the festival can become a meaningful platform for directors, actors and technicians to display their skills before the industry. The speakers expressed confidence that the TFCC Short Film Festival Awards 2026 will help discover promising talent and encourage fresh storytelling. With free submissions, multiple award categories and a grand Hyderabad ceremony, the festival is expected to become an important annual event for short film creators in Telangana and the Telugu film industry.
