A SpiceJet aircraft collided with a stationary Akasa Air plane while taxiing at Indira Gandhi International Airport, causing damage to both aircraft and prompting an investigation. The incident involved a Boeing 737-700 operated by SpiceJet, which sustained damage to its right winglet. The Akasa Air aircraft suffered damage to its left horizontal stabiliser.
Akasa Air stated that its plane, scheduled for a Delhi–Hyderabad flight, was stationary at the time of the collision. Following the mishap, the SpiceJet aircraft has been grounded.
Authorities have launched a probe to determine the cause of the incident and examine potential lapses in ground handling and safety protocols. The event has once again raised concerns about airport ground safety and aircraft movement procedures. No injuries were reported, and further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
