Naidu pushes district growth mapping in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to prepare district economic profiles within two months to identify growth opportunities across the State. The move is aimed at mapping sector-wise strengths and creating focused development plans for each district.

Three economic regions in focus

During a review meeting at the Secretariat, Naidu assessed the progress of the Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati Economic Regions. He asked officials to complete master plans for the Amaravati and Tirupati regions within six months, following the release of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region plan.

Visakhapatnam Bay City plan

Naidu said the proposed Visakhapatnam Bay City should focus on coastal tourism, business innovation, and high-quality urban living. Officials said 3,291 acres of government land had been identified for the 51.88 sq km project.

Sports cities and tourism push

The Chief Minister also asked officials to plan international sporting events in Amaravati, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam. He proposed Sports Cities in all three regions through public-private partnerships and called for a master plan to develop Suryalanka Beach and other coastal tourism destinations.

Tirupati and Rayalaseema growth focus

Naidu said Tirupati has strong potential in minerals, horticulture, religious tourism, education, and industry. He highlighted aerospace, defence, drones, renewable energy, automobiles, food processing, and electronics as key sectors.

He also said horticulture should become the growth engine of Rayalaseema, with the Tirupati Economic Region giving priority to more than 25 horticultural crops under its master plan.
