SRH Beat CSK By Five Wickets As Playoff Race Gets Tougher
Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2026 playoff chances suffered a major blow after SRH beat CSK by five wickets at Chepauk. In a tense CSK vs SRH Chepauk match, SunRisers Hyderabad handled pressure better and completed the chase with six balls remaining, leaving Chennai dependent on their final league match and other results.
SRH Bowlers Break CSK’s Momentum
CSK won the toss and chose to bat first on a difficult black-soil surface. Sanju Samson gave Chennai a fast start by attacking early in the powerplay, but SRH captain Pat Cummins quickly brought himself into the attack and removed him at a crucial stage.
Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube later steadied the innings with an important partnership. However, SRH’s death bowlers changed the match with a smart plan. Sakib Hussain and Eshan Malinga used slower cutters to set up the batters before surprising them with quicker deliveries at the stumps. Both Brevis and Dube were bowled, stopping CSK from finishing strongly.
Kishan And Klaasen Seal The Chase
SRH showed better control while chasing the target. Ishan Kishan played a composed innings under pressure, while Heinrich Klaasen’s quick 47 off 26 balls proved to be the turning point. CSK created chances but failed to take the key wickets at the right time.
With this defeat, CSK’s playoff chances remain uncertain. They must win their final match and hope other results go in their favour to stay alive in the IPL 2026 playoff race.
