Apple has introduced touchscreen controls to the MacBook Pro, marking a major change to its professional laptop lineup. Unveiled on October 28, the redesigned models combine direct screen interaction with the familiar keyboard and trackpad.

In India, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro starts at ₹3,49,900, while the 16-inch M5 Pro model begins at ₹4,09,900. Availability starts on Monday, November 9, 2026. These are starting prices, with the final cost depending on the selected configuration.

OLED Touchscreen And Dynamic Island Features

The new PROLED XDR display uses tandem OLED technology, with support for ProMotion refresh rates up to 120Hz and peak HDR brightness of 2,000 nits. A nano-texture display option helps reduce reflections.

Users can swipe through webpages, pinch to enlarge photos and interact directly with creative tools. Dynamic Island also reaches the Mac, providing access to Spotlight, Live Activities and music controls.

M5 Pro And M5 Max Performance Upgrades

M5 Pro and M5 Max power the new models, targeting demanding work such as video editing, software development, 3D rendering and AI processing. Neural Accelerators within the GPU cores support AI workloads, while storage configurations extend to 16TB.

Battery Life, Connectivity And Design Changes

Apple claims up to 24 hours of battery life and charging to 50 per cent in 30 minutes. The thinner, lighter laptops also feature updated cooling, six speakers and studio-quality microphones.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe charging and a headphone jack. Touchscreen support adds another way to work alongside existing keyboard shortcuts and trackpad gestures.
