iPhone Duo Display Issue Confirmed By Apple
Apple has acknowledged an inner-display problem affecting a small number of its newly launched iPhone Duo devices. The company is offering replacements to affected customers, addressing concerns that emerged shortly after its first folding phone reached buyers.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 26, Apple confirmed that it was aware of the issue and asked customers experiencing display problems to contact AppleCare. The announcement concerns affected devices and does not mean every iPhone Duo requires replacement.
iPhone Duo Screen Damage: What Users Are Seeing
Some early owners have shared complaints showing cracks or visible lines along the inner screen’s central folding area. Several accounts describe the problem appearing soon after the device was first used.
Apple has not published an exact count of affected phones. Its description of a small number of cases should therefore be distinguished from claims that the entire product range has a display defect. Individual symptoms also require assessment before a replacement is confirmed.
iPhone Duo Hinge Analysis Suggests Possible Cause
Repair specialist iFixit has examined the phone’s construction to investigate possible explanations for the screen failures. Its analysis highlights an area near the display cable opening and central hinge support.
One possible explanation involves a support bar failing to retract sufficiently as the phone closes, placing concentrated pressure on the flexible display. However, this remains a proposed failure mechanism rather than an officially confirmed diagnosis from Apple.
Despite those concerns, iFixit described the iPhone Duo as the most repairable foldable it had examined, showing that repair accessibility and screen durability are separate considerations.
iPhone Duo Replacement: How To Get Help
Customers experiencing the identified inner-display problem should contact AppleCare to arrange an assessment and replacement. An active AppleCare+ subscription is not required for replacement relating to this specific issue.
Customers who purchased their device through a mobile carrier are also being directed to AppleCare for assistance. This replacement provision should not be interpreted as blanket coverage for unrelated accidental damage or every type of screen fault. AppleCare can confirm the applicable process for an individual device.
