Hyderabad Rains Kill Two, Waterlogging Brings City Traffic To A Crawl
Hyderabad witnessed a tragic monsoon spell as heavy rains caused severe waterlogging, long traffic jams, and two electrocution deaths in the city.
The incident was reported from the Bandlaguda area near Mylardevpally, where strong winds and rain allegedly caused live electric wires to snap from a pole. The wires fell into a waterlogged street, creating a dangerous situation for people passing through the area.
Two Killed After Live Wire Falls Into Flooded Street
According to reports, two people came in contact with the submerged live wire after stepping out of an auto-rickshaw. They were electrocuted on the spot, turning the rain-related disruption into a major tragedy.
Emergency teams rushed to the area after the incident. Authorities have also been urged to inspect vulnerable electrical installations across rain-hit locations to prevent similar accidents during the ongoing monsoon season.
Waterlogging Hits Hyderabad Roads
The heavy rainfall caused widespread disruption across Hyderabad, especially in low-lying and busy traffic areas. Several roads were submerged, leaving motorists stuck for hours.
Commuters complained that short distances took unusually long, with some reporting nearly two hours to cover just a few kilometres. The rain also affected major transit routes and created heavy congestion during peak travel hours.

The India Meteorological Department has indicated that rain activity may continue across Telangana. Several districts have been placed under yellow alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Residents have been advised to avoid walking through flooded streets, stay away from electric poles, and immediately report snapped wires or exposed cables to authorities.
The Hyderabad rain tragedy highlights the urgent need for safer electric infrastructure, better drainage maintenance, and faster emergency response during intense monsoon spells.
