Many affected employees are working on H-1B visas, where the job loss rule gives them only 60 days to find another employer who can sponsor their visa. If they fail to secure a new role within this grace period, they may be forced to leave the United States.

The situation has become stressful for workers who have spent years building their careers and family lives in the US. Many Indian H-1B workers are also stuck in long green card backlogs, making the sudden layoffs even more difficult.

Visa Options After Layoffs

Several laid-off employees are now exploring the B-2 visa after the H-1B layoff option to stay in the US for a longer period. However, immigration experts say the process is becoming tougher, with more paperwork requests and higher chances of rejection.
