Telangana student Srinath Reddy, 25, from Kamareddy district, was found dead in England on June 23, leaving his family seeking government help to bring his body back to India.
Srinath Reddy was a native of Talamadla village in Rajampet mandal of Kamareddy district. He had gone to England around 14 months ago for higher studies and was pursuing his MS at Leicester University.
Telangana Student Found Dead In England
According to the family, Srinath had spoken to them over the phone on the night before his death. His father, Madhusudan Reddy, said the conversation appeared normal and the family had no indication that anything was wrong.
Srinath reportedly attended a friend’s birthday gathering on June 22 night and later returned to his room. The next morning, he was found unresponsive by a roommate, after which friends and relatives were informed.
The exact cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed.
Family Appeals For Government Help
The grieving family has appealed to the Central government and the Telangana government to help bring Srinath’s body back to India at the earliest.
His father said the family needs support in completing the required formalities and coordinating with authorities in the UK. The family wants Srinath’s mortal remains to be brought back to his native village so that final rites can be performed.
Financial Burden Adds To Family’s Pain
Srinath had gone abroad with hopes of building a better future through higher education. Reports said his family had taken an education loan and also borrowed money from relatives to support his studies in the UK.
The family is now facing emotional distress along with the financial burden linked to repatriation and other procedures.
Family Waits For Clarity
The family has said it is waiting for official clarity on what led to Srinath’s death. They have not made any unverified allegations and have requested authorities to help them understand the circumstances.
The incident has again highlighted the challenges Indian families face when students die abroad, especially when documentation, local procedures and body repatriation take time.
For now, Srinath’s family is hoping for urgent assistance so that his body can be brought back to Telangana and his final rites can be held in his native village.
