Suriya has delivered a strong box office comeback with Karuppu, which has grossed Rs 120.75 crore worldwide in its opening weekend. Directed by RJ Balaji and co-starring Trisha, the fantasy action drama opened with mixed reviews but managed to attract solid audience turnout across domestic and overseas markets. The film crossed the Rs 100-crore mark within just three days, making it one of the most discussed Tamil movie collection stories of 2026.

Strong Opening Weekend Collection

Karuppu collected Rs 68 crore nett in India during its first three days. Its India gross stands at Rs 78.75 crore, while overseas markets contributed Rs 42 crore, taking the total worldwide gross to Rs 120.75 crore. The film started with Rs 15.50 crore nett on Friday and saw a strong jump on Saturday with Rs 24.15 crore. Sunday became its biggest day so far, as the film earned Rs 28.35 crore nett.

Growing Audience Response

The occupancy trend also showed steady growth through the weekend. Karuppu recorded 46.9 percent occupancy on Friday, 56.8 percent on Saturday, and 64.3 percent on Sunday. Despite last-minute show cancellations and mixed word of mouth, the film’s first weekend gross has brought renewed focus on Suriya’s box office pull. With strong overseas support and rising weekend numbers, Karuppu’s weekday performance will now decide how long its successful run continues.
