Mahesh Babu is expanding his business interests with a strategic investment in Mumbai-based Shotgun Games. The move adds gaming to a portfolio that already includes ventures in cinema exhibition, restaurants, wellness and other sectors.
Mahesh Babu Invests in Shotgun Games
Mahesh Babu has officially joined Shotgun Games as a strategic investor, marking his entry into the global gaming industry. The Mumbai-based interactive entertainment studio is developing Takedown: Genesis, an action-adventure game intended for international PC and console audiences. The partnership was confirmed by the studio’s co-founders and leadership. Mahesh is an investor in the project, which remains in development.
Indian Talent Behind an International Game
Filmmaker Vicky Arora is directing Takedown: Genesis. Shotgun Games aims to create a console-grade, narrative-driven action game developed by Indian talent, with the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe among its target markets. The investment brings Mahesh into a creative field beyond films and theatrical exhibition, while the project’s international ambitions place an Indian studio at the centre of its development. Further details about the game, including its launch timeline, have not been announced.
A Portfolio Across Multiple Sectors
Mahesh is also an investor in AMB Cinemas, the multiplex chain developed in partnership with Asian Cinemas. In the food and hospitality space, he is associated with AN Restaurants, launched with Asian Group and Minerva. His business interests extend to Fitday, a Hyderabad-based omnichannel startup focused on nutraceuticals and healthy snacks. He has also participated in an angel investment round for Mithronsmart, which supports businesses in food, agricultural technology and consumer sectors.
Varanasi Remains His Next Film
The gaming investment adds another dimension to Mahesh’s growing business portfolio, which spans entertainment, food, wellness and technology-related ventures. While he continues to pursue projects outside cinema, his next release is Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli. The film remains a major part of his professional slate as he balances his acting career with investments across different industries.
