Kalam Foundation Takes 147 Ramanathapuram School Students to ISRO

Kalam Foundation organises ISRO tour for 147 students

The People’s President Abdul Kalam International Foundation has organised an educational tour to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for 147 school students from Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram district. The initiative brings together students from several parts of the district for a learning opportunity centred on science and space research.

The students departed in three buses from Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s national memorial near Rameswaram on Tuesday evening. Beginning the journey at the former president’s memorial connected the educational initiative with the scientist whose life continues to inspire young learners.

Kalam Foundation selects students across Ramanathapuram

Students were selected from schools in Rameswaram, Mandapam, Uchipuli, Ramanathapuram and Paramakudi. The foundation’s plan focused on science students, giving children from different localities an opportunity to participate in the visit together.

The initiative was planned on July 27, the death anniversary of former President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. On that occasion, the foundation proposed selecting students from Ramanathapuram district schools and arranging an educational visit to ISRO.

The tour carries forward the foundation’s effort to connect Kalam’s legacy with educational opportunities for schoolchildren. A visit linked to India’s space research programme can help students relate classroom science to the work of a national scientific institution.

Kalam Foundation tour flagged off by family members

Kalam’s niece Naseema Maraikayar and grandson Seksalim flagged off the three buses at the memorial near Rameswaram. Their participation marked the departure of the 147 students on the educational journey.

The report did not specify which ISRO centre the students would visit or provide a detailed itinerary. The confirmed details concern the selection of students, the foundation’s involvement and the departure from the memorial.

For the participating schoolchildren, the journey offers an opportunity to explore their interest in science beyond their usual classroom setting. By organising the visit around Kalam’s memory, the foundation has placed students and scientific learning at the centre of its tribute to the former president.
