Yogi Orders School Checks After Gen Alpha Protests in UP

Fresh directions followed student protests over shortages and administrative lapses. With complaints and protests reported from Lucknow, Azamgarh, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Unnao and other districts.

Yogi Orders tighter monitoring after student protests

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered stricter monitoring of educational institutions after student protests highlighted teacher shortages, infrastructure problems and administrative delays across several districts.

The Chief Minister directed officials to respond quickly to complaints and identify those responsible wherever negligence is established. Protests have been reported from Lucknow, Azamgarh, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Unnao and other parts of the state, bringing school-level grievances under direct government scrutiny.

In Lucknow, students of Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalaya recently protested on a public road over a shortage of subject teachers and alleged irregularities affecting their studies. The demonstration prompted intervention from officials and a state minister.

Yogi Orders scrutiny of teacher shortages and recruitment

Teacher deployment and recruitment delays have emerged as major areas of concern. The government has questioned why teachers were not deployed to some Sarvodaya schools even though the academic session began on April 1.

Officials responsible for delays in issuing teacher recruitment advertisements in June are also expected to be identified. The Chief Minister has made it clear that administrative delays affecting students, classes and the functioning of institutions should not be ignored.

The review is expected to focus not only on vacancies but also on whether available teachers are being deployed where they are most urgently needed.

Yogi Orders CMO nodal officers to fix accountability

Officials from the Chief Minister's Office have been appointed as nodal officers to monitor educational institutions and ensure that identified deficiencies are addressed quickly.

The exercise will cover institutions under basic and secondary education, higher education, technical and vocational education, social welfare and labour departments. Officials have been instructed to fix responsibility where poor administration or negligence is found. The move significantly broadens oversight beyond individual schools and places multiple education-related departments under closer review.

Yogi Orders DMs to track school complaints online

Chief Secretary SP Goyal has also directed divisional commissioners and district magistrates to monitor social media posts concerning schools and educational institutions. District administrations have been asked to examine complaints raised online and provide fact-based responses through official channels.

The government has issued guidelines covering school infrastructure, cleanliness and communication with students and parents. Officials have also been told to prevent waterlogging and sanitation problems during the monsoon.

The latest intervention signals a push to resolve complaints before they escalate into protests. With student concerns now receiving direct attention from the Chief Minister's Office and district administrations, teacher vacancies, recruitment delays and basic school facilities are likely to remain under close scrutiny across Uttar Pradesh.
