Raptadu School Attack: Girl Stable, Police Open Fire On Accused

Raptadu School Attack And CM Response

A Class 10 student suffered severe injuries after a 21-year-old man allegedly entered her classroom at ZP High School in Raptadu, Andhra Pradesh, and attacked her with a power chainsaw. The incident occurred around 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 31, while classes were underway. Another girl was injured while trying to protect her classmate.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed anger and distress over the attack. He directed the medical team to give the injured student the highest priority care and instructed police to apprehend the accused and pursue stringent punishment through the legal process.

Naidu said he was personally monitoring the student’s recovery. The classroom attack triggered widespread outrage across Andhra Pradesh and calls for strong government action.

Lokesh Shares Student Health Update

In an update published on Sunday morning, November 1, IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh said the student’s condition was stable following emergency treatment.

The Andhra Pradesh government shifted her to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru late on Saturday through a green channel arranged in coordination with the Karnataka government. Doctors administered blood transfusions and supportive treatment before performing two surgeries for her injuries.

According to Lokesh’s update, the medical team had controlled the bleeding and stabilised her condition. He continued to follow up with the treating doctors, while the government assured assistance throughout her recovery.

Police Open Fire On Accused

Identified as 21-year-old Hemanth, near Dharmavaram railway station within hours of the attack. A later article, published at 8:54 PM on November 1, said police opened fire on the accused in the Atmakur forest area after he allegedly attempted to escape. That account identified him as Hemant alias Dummu and said he sustained serious injuries before being taken to hospital.

The supplied accounts do not explain the sequence between the stated apprehension near Dharmavaram and the subsequent forest incident. They also provide no further medical update on the accused. The student’s stable condition reflects the Sunday morning update shared by Lokesh.
