Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation for LV Prasad Eye Institute’s Sudha & Venkat Jasti Campus on September 23, 2026. The project is coming up at Abbarajupalem village in Thullur mandal, near Amaravati. It marks the start of construction, not the opening of a functioning hospital.
LV Prasad Eye Institute says the first phase will be a tertiary eye-care centre, with patient services planned for 2027. The institute aims to open its Centre of Excellence by September that year. Its longer-term plan calls for 800,000 square feet of built-up space developed over a decade, alongside an Eye Health Resource Centre for Andhra Pradesh.
Later phases are planned to add vision rehabilitation, elderly eye care and a Child Sight Institute. An Eye and Brain Institute, education academy and community eye-health services are also proposed. These are future phases of the project, with no opening dates announced for them.
Speaking at the foundation event, Naidu said the campus could help extend eye care to people in remote and rural areas. For patients, the key question will be how effectively the new centre connects specialist treatment in Amaravati with services closer to home.
