Dharmendra Pradhan says NEET re-exam will be held with tighter security and no extra fee for students
NEET Re-Exam To Get Tighter Security
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has promised strict action against anyone involved in NEET irregularities, paper leaks, or exam malpractice. Calling the NEET and CBSE controversies unfortunate, he said the government has accepted responsibility and is working to prevent such failures in the future. The NEET re-exam will be held on June 21, 2026, with stronger security arrangements across nearly 5,400 centres and about one lakh classrooms. Pradhan said the Centre and state governments will coordinate closely to protect every stage of the exam process, from question paper handling to final delivery. The Prime Minister’s Office is also monitoring the exam preparations to ensure better coordination and a smoother re-exam process.
No Fee For Students, CBSE Glitches Reviewed
Pradhan said students will not be charged any fee for the NEET retest, and those who wanted to change exam centres were given the option. Around 2.5 to 3 lakh students reportedly modified their preferred centres. He also addressed the CBSE on-screen marking glitch, saying technical and payment gateway issues affected the system. On NTA reforms, Pradhan said NEET may gradually move towards a computer-based format. He added that no company, official or insider would be spared if wrongdoing is found.
