IIM Bengaluru Professor And Wife Named In Assault Case Involving Domestic Worker

IIM Bengaluru Professor And Wife Accused Of Assaulting Manipur Woman

A faculty member of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and his wife have been booked after a 23-year-old woman from Manipur accused them of physical assault, confinement, and mistreatment while she worked as a nanny at their residence inside the IIM-B campus in Bengaluru. According to police, the alleged abuse took place over nearly five years between June 2021 and May 2026.

The woman, who belongs to Churachandpur district, alleged in her complaint that she was employed as a caretaker for the couple’s children and lived with them at their campus residence in Bilkenahalli, south Bengaluru. She accused the couple of repeatedly assaulting her, restricting her movement, and failing to provide adequate food during her stay.

Police have identified the accused as Professor Amar and his wife, Anshu. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and an investigation has been launched into the allegations. Authorities are expected to record statements and examine evidence related to the period mentioned in the FIR.

The case has drawn attention due to the seriousness of the allegations and because it involves a faculty member from one of India’s premier management institutions. Officials are currently examining the circumstances under which the woman stayed and worked at the residence during the alleged period of abuse.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the treatment and protection of domestic workers employed in urban households, especially migrant workers from northeastern states working in major Indian cities. Police said further investigation is underway and additional legal action will depend on the findings of the probe.
