The upcoming film Ramayana is set to begin with a powerful and unexpected opening sequence that focuses on Ravana rather than the traditional Rama–Ravana conflict. The film’s introduction draws from a lesser-known episode of the epic, highlighting Ravana’s confrontation with his half-brother Kubera.
The opening scene is based on the story of Ravana’s rise to power, where he seizes control of Lanka from Kubera. The conflict continues as Ravana pursues Kubera towards Alakapuri near Mount Kailash, driven by ambition and his desire to establish dominance. This episode adds depth to Ravana’s character, portraying him as more than just the antagonist in Rama’s journey.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kailash, the sequence combines mythology and large-scale action, making it a key moment in the film’s narrative. By starting with this battle, the film offers a fresh perspective on the epic, focusing on events that take place before Rama’s story unfolds.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is planned as a two-part epic and features a strong ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol. The film is expected to be released in two parts, bringing the epic story to the big screen on a grand scale.
