Mumbai to Host State Funeral for Asha Bhosle; Fans to Pay Last Respects at Her Residence

Asha Bhosle, the legendary Indian singer, passed away on Sunday at the age of 92 due to age-related health complications, including multi-organ failure. Asha Bhosle, whose career spanned several decades and thousands of songs across various languages, will be accorded a state funeral in Mumbai, with her last rites scheduled for Monday afternoon at Shivaji Park.

Following Asha Bhosle’s demise, her mortal remains were brought to her residence in Lower Parel. Senior leaders, including Devendra Fadnavis and Ashish Shelar, paid their respects, offering floral tributes. Officials stated that arrangements have been made to allow fans and admirers to pay their final respects in an orderly manner. A public viewing will take place at Casa Grande from 11 am on Monday.

Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed that the state funeral will be held at 4 pm on April 13 with full honours. Authorities are expected to implement necessary security and crowd management measures given the anticipated turnout. Fondly known as “Asha Tai,” Asha Bhosle was honoured with prestigious awards, including the Padma Vibhushan and Maharashtra Bhushan. Widely regarded as one of the most versatile voices in Indian music, she leaves behind an enduring legacy that continues to influence generations of artists and listeners.
