Ramba Oorvasi Menaka Review: Comedy Works, Story Falls Short

Ramba Oorvasi Menaka Review: Comedy Works, Story Falls Short

Plot:

Suri dreams of becoming a film hero but struggles with heavy debts and financial problems. He discovers a magical book that supposedly has the power to bring celestial beauties Ramba, Oorvasi and Menaka to Earth. When they finally appear, they unexpectedly lose their divine powers. At the same time, Suri urgently needs Rs. 60 lakh for his mother’s operation and must settle his debts before marrying Chinni. With help from his uncle CEO Ramana and friend Parimala, Suri attempts to overcome his growing problems.

Performances:

Allari Naresh carries the film with his energetic comic timing and remains its biggest strength. His scenes with Vennela Kishore provide some of the most entertaining moments. Surbhi, Vishnu Priya, Raashi Singh and Prisha Singh contribute effectively to the film’s colourful presentation. However, Tarak Ponnappa’s antagonist character lacks the impact required to strengthen the conflict.

Technical Aspects:

Director Chandra Mohan Chintada combines fantasy, comedy, mother sentiment and a youth-oriented message. Spoofs on popular films and filmmakers provide occasional laughs. The cinematography captures the village locations attractively, while the production values remain adequate for the story.

Music:

Chaitan Bharadwaj’s music is pleasant, with folk and mass-oriented tracks complementing the film’s comic and commercial tone.

Editing:

The editing could have been tighter, especially in the first half. Repetitive sequences and an underdeveloped romantic track affect the pace and make certain portions feel stretched.

Positives:

  • Allari Naresh’s energetic comedy timing
  • Vennela Kishore’s entertaining comic scenes
  • Fun fantasy concept
  • Spoofs and parody sequences
  • Pleasant music by Chaitan Bharadwaj
  • Attractive village cinematography
  • Some effective mother-sentiment moments

Negatives:

  • Weak core storyline
  • Repetitive comedy scenes
  • Dull romantic track
  • Slow and uneven first half
  • Villain character lacks impact
  • Screenplay does not fully use the fantasy concept
  • Some portions feel stretched

Analysis:

The film works best when it allows Allari Naresh to operate in his comfort zone. His comedy, supported by Vennela Kishore, helps several scenes land well. The fantasy concept involving Ramba, Oorvasi and Menaka gives the narrative an unusual setup, while the mother sentiment adds an emotional angle. However, the screenplay does not fully exploit its interesting premise. The first half lacks narrative strength, some jokes feel repetitive and the romance does not add much to the proceedings. Despite these shortcomings, the comedy manages to keep portions of the film watchable.

Bottom Line: Flawed Fun

Rating: 2/5
