Latest Telugu Movie Review: Telusu Kada

Plot

Varun, an orphan who longs for a complete and loving family, falls deeply in love with Raaga, a fiercely independent woman who rejects the idea of marriage and labels in relationships. Their ideological differences lead to a breakup. Varun later marries Anjali, hoping to build the family he always dreamed of, only to face the emotional setback of infertility. When Raaga unexpectedly re-enters their lives, unresolved emotions resurface, creating a complex web of love, sacrifice, and redefining what family truly means.

Overview

Telusu Kada is a contemporary romantic drama directed by debutant Neeraja Kona and produced by People Media Factory. Featuring Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Raashii Khanna, and Srinidhi Shetty, the film explores modern relationships, emotional vulnerability, and unconventional family dynamics. With stylish visuals and strong music, the film resonates particularly with urban youth. However, its niche theme and occasional narrative excess limit its universal appeal.

Performances

  • Siddhu Jonnalagadda (Varun): Delivers a mature and restrained performance, successfully stepping away from his comic ‘Tillu’ image.
  • Raashii Khanna (Anjali): Offers a heartfelt portrayal with strong emotional chemistry alongside Siddhu.
  • Srinidhi Shetty (Raaga): Shines in flashback episodes, portraying independence and emotional depth convincingly.
  • Harsha Chemudu: Provides light-hearted moments as Varun’s best friend.
  • Annapoornamma, Rohini, Sanjay Swaroop: Brief but meaningful roles, with Annapoornamma delivering an emotional highlight in the climax.

Technical Aspects

  • Direction: Neeraja Kona presents an honest, urbane narrative with focus on emotional realism, though sometimes overindulging in dramatic moments.
  • Cinematography (V. S. Gnana Shekar): Visually appealing, especially the vineyard sequences and romantic flashbacks.
  • Production Values: People Media Factory ensures polished visuals and strong production quality.

Music

Thaman delivers two chartbuster songs that blend seamlessly into the narrative. While the songs elevate the film, the background score occasionally feels exaggerated, adding unnecessary heroic tones to a relationship-centric drama.

Editing

Naveen Nooli’s editing is adequate but could have trimmed repetitive scenes and excessive slow-motion shots that affect pacing.

Positives

  • Chart-topping songs
  • Relatable modern relationship dialogues
  • Strong lead performances
  • Emotionally impactful scenes
  • Fresh and relevant conflict

Negatives

  • Overdramatic dialogues in parts
  • Limited mass appeal
  • Repetitive storytelling
  • Unnecessary hero elevation shots
  • Occasional lowbrow humour

Analysis

Telusu Kada attempts to explore modern love, emotional independence, and unconventional family structures with sincerity. Neeraja Kona’s debut showcases promise, particularly in handling layered emotions and urban themes. However, stylistic excesses and uneven pacing prevent the film from achieving a stronger impact. While it connects well with city audiences and youth, its limited commercial appeal may restrict broader acceptance.

Bottomline: Emotionally Honest Drama
