Positive Audience Response Driving Growth
The romantic drama Deewana, starring Harshith Reddy in the lead role, continues to gain traction at the box office after its release on June 20. Produced by Vasudev Koppineni and Sridevi Karyampudi under Arha Media and V Studios, the film is gradually building momentum through strong audience feedback. The producers confirmed that collections are increasing day by day as word-of-mouth spreads across different viewer segments, especially among youth audiences who are actively engaging with the film’s emotional narrative and second-half developments.
Producers Highlight Creative Satisfaction and Vision
Producer Sridevi Karyampudi expressed satisfaction with the creative outcome of the film, stating that the story significantly strengthens in the second half with impactful emotional and narrative shifts. According to her, the film was developed with strong belief in its interval twist and post-interval transformation of the lead character. She also noted disappointment that the film could not reach wider family audiences due to its certification restrictions, which limited its accessibility despite its wholesome content.
Producer Vasudev Koppineni added that Deewana was designed as a complete family entertainer blending romance, friendship, and emotional depth. He emphasized that early perceptions of the film being strictly youth-oriented were misleading, as the narrative is suitable for broader audiences. He further stated that despite certification delays affecting premiere plans in cities like Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad, the team ensured smooth theatrical release under tight timelines.
Censor Challenges and Certification Concerns
The producers also addressed challenges faced during the censor certification process, stating that required cuts were implemented but the final certification outcome remained unchanged. They expressed concern over limited time to appeal or approach revision authorities, which they believe affected the film’s positioning on online platforms, where it was marked as 18+, restricting family viewership.
They emphasized that while they respect the censor board process, there appears to be a communication gap between filmmakers and certification authorities. According to them, clearer coordination would help smaller films avoid delays and confusion, ensuring better audience reach and transparency in classification decisions.
Word of Mouth Strengthens Box Office Momentum
Despite initial limitations, Deewana is witnessing increasing audience turnout driven by positive word of mouth. The producers noted that viewers who watched the film have largely responded favorably, particularly appreciating the interval twist and emotional progression in the second half. They also highlighted that audiences have been careful not to reveal key plot developments, helping maintain curiosity among new viewers.
The team believes that the film will continue to gain stronger momentum in the coming week as more viewers respond to recommendations. They also mentioned reduced ticket pricing strategies—₹100 in single screens and ₹105 in multiplexes—to encourage wider accessibility and improve footfalls across theatres.
Future Projects and Industry Outlook
Looking ahead, the producers confirmed that they are working on two upcoming projects, including a superhero-themed film aimed at introducing a fresh concept in Telugu cinema, along with another romantic drama currently in development. They remain optimistic that Deewana will establish a strong performance trend and reinforce the value of content-driven storytelling supported by audience engagement rather than opening-day numbers alone.
