The NTR Trust successfully organized a Thalassemia Awareness Run in Hyderabad, bringing together youth, public figures, and volunteers to spread awareness about the disease and promote voluntary blood donation.
The 3K, 5K, and 10K Thalassemia Run organized by NTR Trust at Jalavihar in Hyderabad witnessed enthusiastic participation from youngsters and the general public. The event was flagged off by NTR Trust Managing Trustee Nara Bhuvaneswari, who emphasized the importance of awareness and early prevention of thalassemia. She stated that a simple blood test before marriage can help prevent the disease and protect future generations. Calling the run “not just an event, but a movement,” she highlighted the trust’s mission to support children suffering from thalassemia and encourage voluntary blood donation.
Speaking at the event, Nara Bhuvaneswari emotionally described the struggles faced by children affected with thalassemia, many of whom require blood transfusions every 20 days at a very young age. She said every drop of donated blood has the power to save a life and bring smiles to children battling the disease. She also appreciated the overwhelming response from youth and participants who joined the awareness initiative with compassion and commitment.
Several prominent personalities participated in the event, including former Indian cricketer Mithali Raj, MLA Mallareddy, CP Sajjanar, Hyderabad Collector Priyanka Ala, Cyberabad CP Ramesh, NTR Trust CEO and retired IPS officer K. Rajendra Kumar, and actress Manasa Varanasi. The presence of celebrities, public officials, and social leaders added strength to the campaign, making the Thalassemia Run a successful awareness initiative in Hyderabad.
