The Deewana team celebrated the film’s audience response in Hyderabad while raising concerns over the A certificate and its impact on family viewers.
Young actor Harshith Reddy’s latest film Deewana is receiving a positive response from audiences after its theatrical release on June 20. The film, produced by Vasudev Koppineni and Sridevi Karyampudi under Arha Media and V Studios, marks the debut of heroine Smeha Manimegalai and director Sreekanth Sangishetty.
To celebrate the film’s response, the makers held a grand success meet in Hyderabad. Along with thanking audiences, the team also raised concerns over the A certificate given to the film and said the rating had affected family audiences and premiere plans.
Producer Vasudev Koppineni said the team had received appreciation from several viewers but felt the film could have reached more people if the certification issue had not affected promotions. He said the team had planned promotional tours across the Telugu states but had to cancel them because of the certification delay.
“There are no kissing scenes or violent sequences in our film, yet it was given an A certificate,” he said, requesting audiences to give the young team a chance. The producer also announced that ticket prices in single-screen theatres would be reduced to ₹100.
Producer Sridevi Karyampudi said she was happy with the response coming from theatres and added that the film is suitable for families. She said many viewers were hesitating to book tickets after seeing the 18+ warning, even though the film does not contain objectionable content.
Director Sreekanth Sangishetty said Deewana was made with strong faith in Telugu audiences and meaningful cinema. He said the film combines realism with commercial appeal and that viewers were emotionally connecting with the love story, especially the pain of the lead characters.
Hero Harshith Reddy said Deewana is a film meant to be watched in theatres. He said several viewers had sent emotional messages after watching the movie, with some saying it reminded them of their relationship with their parents. He also said the team could not hold premiere shows because the censor certificate was delayed.
The cast and crew, including Narsingh, Tony, K.K., Sindhu, Fight Master Hari, Jeevan Kumar, music director Eshwar Chand and actress Jhansi, thanked audiences for supporting the film. They said the emotional scenes, father-son bond, dialogues, music and performances were receiving strong appreciation in theatres.
Deewana is presented as a love story with emotions, friendship and family drama at its core. The makers have urged audiences to avoid piracy and watch the film on the big screen.
