Sri Ganganagar Case Update: 14 Arrested As SIT Probe Continues
Public outrage continues in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district after the alleged sexual assault case involving a minor girl came to light in June. Police said the investigation is still underway and 14 accused have been arrested so far.
Rajasthan Police has also clarified that a video circulating on social media, which was being linked to the Sri Ganganagar case, is actually from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. Police urged people not to share misleading claims or unverified content related to sensitive cases.
Police Clarify Misleading Social Media Claim
The clarification came after an online clip was widely shared with claims that it was connected to the Sri Ganganagar incident. Rajasthan Police said the claim was false and referred to a statement issued by Hardoi police in Uttar Pradesh.
Officials said the Sri Ganganagar case is being investigated separately based on evidence collected during the probe.
Minor Rescued During Police Raid
According to police, the case came to light after a woman approached officials and reported that her minor daughter was missing. During a police raid on June 23, the girl was rescued from a hotel.
Police said a hotel operator was detained, while two employees were also taken to the police station for questioning. After counselling by a women’s police station officer, an FIR was registered.
SIT Formed For Investigation
Considering the seriousness of the case, a Special Investigation Team was formed under senior police supervision. Officials said the SIT is examining technical evidence, CCTV footage, crime scene details, and the victim’s identification as part of the probe.
The investigation has been handed over to officers from the Women’s Crime Prevention Cell.
14 Accused Arrested So Far
Police said 14 accused have been arrested so far in connection with the case. The arrested include a hotel owner and two hotel managers.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and further action may be taken if additional evidence is found. Police have maintained that no accused found guilty will be spared.
Three Hotels Demolished
On July 1, the district administration demolished three hotels allegedly linked to the case. Officials said the demolition was carried out due to violations of building bylaws.
The hotels reportedly included Hotel Khunger, Joy Inn, and Hotel Sapphire. Officials said the administrative action and criminal investigation are being handled separately.

Police have urged the public not to share misleading posts or unverified claims related to the case. Officials said rumours can create confusion and affect sensitive investigations.
The case has triggered strong public demand for strict action, while the SIT continues to examine evidence before reaching further conclusions.
