Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli continues to battle serious health challenges, with growing concern over his condition in recent months. The situation has drawn support from the cricketing community, including Sachin Tendulkar, who has joined a private WhatsApp group offering financial and emotional assistance.
The initiative, led by Kambli’s longtime friend Marcus Couto, includes former cricketers and well-wishers contributing toward his treatment and daily care. Doctors have flagged a potential stroke risk due to an unremovable blood clot in his brain, making his condition delicate.
Kambli has also been experiencing memory issues, often requiring prompts to recall information. While there has been some improvement—he has stopped consuming alcohol and regained limited mobility—concerns persist due to his continued smoking habit, which may impact recovery.
Currently under regular medical supervision, Kambli frequently visits care centres in Thane. Encouragingly, he has shown signs of recovery, including taking up limited professional work such as appearing in advertisements. Spending most of his time with family, Kambli continues his recovery journey with strong backing from the cricket fraternity, whose collective support remains vital to his well-being.
