Commercial LPG Price Hike Hits Delhi Businesses
The price of a 19kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has been increased by ₹42, taking the new rate to ₹3,113.50 from ₹3,071.50. The revised price is effective from June 1 and will mainly affect hotels, restaurants, caterers, cloud kitchens, bakeries, tea stalls and other businesses that use commercial cooking gas every day. Reuters reported that Indian Oil raised the 19kg LPG cylinder price for industrial and commercial clients to ₹3,113.50, while Economic Times also reported the ₹42 increase in Delhi from June 1.
The hike may look small for one cylinder, but for food businesses using several cylinders every week, the monthly impact can be noticeable. Restaurants and catering services already deal with rising costs for ingredients, staff, rent, electricity and delivery. A higher commercial LPG rate can further squeeze margins, especially for small and mid-sized food outlets. If fuel prices remain high, some businesses may eventually adjust menu prices, catering packages or service charges to manage the additional cost.
Domestic LPG Consumers Get Relief For Now
There is no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders used in household kitchens. The 14.2kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi remains unchanged at ₹913, meaning home consumers will not face an immediate increase in cooking gas expenses. PTI-based reports also confirmed that commercial LPG was hiked while domestic cooking gas rates remained unchanged.
Commercial LPG prices are usually revised more frequently because they are more closely linked to market conditions and international energy costs. Domestic LPG pricing is handled differently because it directly affects household budgets. The latest hike comes as global fuel markets remain under pressure, and India continues to depend heavily on imported energy. For now, the price increase directly affects commercial users in Delhi, but continued fuel volatility can have a wider impact on food prices, hospitality costs and small business expenses in the coming weeks.
