Joseph Vijay Reopens Jana Nayagan Release Mission After CM Victory

Jana Nayagan Delay Continues As Vijay Pushes For CBFC Approval

Fresh Push For CBFC Clearance

After taking office as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Joseph Vijay has reportedly revived efforts to secure clearance for his long-delayed farewell film Jana Nayagan. Sources said Vijay instructed producer Venkat K Narayana to return to Chennai and focus on the film’s release process. Venkat, who was attending the Cannes Film Festival, is now heading back amid the latest developments surrounding the project.

The political action drama has remained stuck with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for several months after concerns were reportedly raised over scenes linked to political and public sentiments. The film had originally been planned for a January 9 theatrical release, but certification delays forced the makers to postpone it. Sources now claim the revising committee is once again reviewing the film, and fresh discussions are underway to obtain the required approvals.

Fans continue searching for why Jana Nayagan was delayed as the film remains stuck in the certification process. The Tamil Nadu CM Vijay movie has generated major political and cinema discussions ever since its announcement and is now once again trending across social media platforms.

Legal Issues, Leak Controversy And Release Delay

Jana Nayagan became one of the most talked-about Tamil films after reports suggested its political content could influence the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where Vijay contested as chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). After objections from the CBFC, the makers approached the court seeking a censor certificate before eventually withdrawing the case and agreeing to revisions.

The film later faced another setback after an HD print leaked online on April 9. The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Police arrested nine individuals in connection with the leak, including a freelance editor accused of illegally accessing footage. Editor Pradeep E Ragav was later suspended by the editors’ association for violating industry bylaws, though officials clarified he was not directly involved in the piracy incident.

Produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol and Gautham Vasudev Menon. Mounted on a reported budget of ₹500 crore, the film’s stalled release has once again come into focus following Vijay’s latest intervention.
