Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), raising concerns over music and on-field remarks during their IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5.
The franchise objected to the song “Dosa, Idly, Sambar, Chutney” by Gana Appu, which was played during the match. The track, often linked to meme culture and South Indian stereotypes, was deemed inappropriate by CSK management. Led by managing director Kasi Viswanathan, the franchise also raised concerns over remarks made by DJs and the public address system, which were perceived as targeting their players. CSK stated that such actions went beyond typical home support and created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
The IPL governing council has acknowledged the complaint and is reviewing the matter to ensure match-day presentations remain respectful and maintain a positive environment for all teams. The incident adds another layer to the growing rivalry between CSK and RCB. A similar controversy was reported last season, further intensifying tensions between the two sides both on and off the field.
