Telangana Minister Konda Surekha left Hyderabad for New Delhi on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after being called for talks by the Congress leadership. The discussions follow a disciplinary controversy and come amid speculation over her political future and a possible Telangana Cabinet reshuffle.

Telangana Forest, Environment and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha’s visit to New Delhi has intensified political activity within the state Congress. The minister reportedly travelled to the national capital following a summons from the party’s central leadership and was expected to meet AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal.

Surekha also sought an appointment with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge as questions continued over the disciplinary controversy involving her daughter, Konda Sushmita. The outcome of the meetings could determine Surekha’s position in the party and indicate how strongly the Congress leadership supports Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in managing internal disputes.

No official decision on disciplinary action or a Cabinet reshuffle had been announced when the reports emerged. Claims about Surekha’s possible removal therefore remain political speculation unless confirmed by the Congress leadership.

The controversy began after Sushmita made remarks involving Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy during a political dispute in the Geesukonda area. Her comments triggered debate within the Telangana Congress and reportedly prompted complaints from party leaders.
